John Gilmore from DeleteMe/Abine, the online privacy company, will present a review of how commercial and criminal exploitation of online PII has become the major driver of growth of fraud, identity theft, financial crime, and social engineering attacks on individuals and businesses over the last decade.  He will also discuss new methods for mitigating individual risk-exposure, as well as best-practices for protecting financial security.

John has a 20year background in business intelligence research, having started at research firm Datamonitor with DeleteMe founder Rob Shavell, where they began as analysts covering consumer and technology sectors, respectively.  Rob went on to join Softbank, while John spent the next decade in various roles in management consulting, finance, and as an equity research analyst on wall street.  John joined DeleteMe 5 years ago as the company expanded and has been closely involved in their development of a B2B service providing privacy services to institutions and executives.  John frequently provides public commentary on major data privacy issues of the day, ranging from the changing nature of institutional cyberthreats, consumer fraud trends, and emerging issues around Digital Identity and changes to state and federal data-privacy regulation.
